March 26, 2012 CBP Announces 2012 West Coast Trade Symposium In a Federal Register notice published March 19, 2012 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the 2012 West Coast Trade Symposium: "Harmonizing Trade for a Stronger Economy," is scheduled to take place on May 10, 2012 in Long Beach, California. The notice states that, "Due to the overwhelming interest to attend past symposia, each company is requested to limit their company’s registrations to no more than three participants, in order to afford equal representation from all members of the international trade community." In addition, a live webcast of the even, including historical access to the recorded sessions, will be available for those unable to attend. CBP will be holding two trade symposia this year, one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast. Registration for the West Coast Symposium is now open. In a Federal Register notice published March 19, 2012 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Department of the Treasury amended Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) on an interim basis to implement the tariff treatment and other custom-related provisions for the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (UKFTA). The UKFTA entered into force with respect to goods entered, or withdrawn from warehouse, on or after March 15, 2012. This notice amends CBP regulations to incorporate the changes required by the trade agreement, particularly within 19 CFR Part 10. On March 22, 2012, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) posted an updated version of their Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) Program Overview presentation on their website.
